Inverters are increasingly taking on a dominant role in industrial networks, which has two effects: A decrease in motors that are operated directly on the grid reduces the need for inductive fundamental reactive power, while at the same time harmonic currents increase. The impedance of the mains transformer plays a decisive role here, as a large proportion of the harmonic voltage is generated there, which in turn causes interference at all consumers. This leads to unreliable operation of the consumers and increased defects.

KBR offers active harmonic filters as a solution.
The multiwave active eliminates harmonics up to the 50th harmonic. The filter improves the voltage quality and thus significantly increases operational safety.

The benefits are extraordinary. It is almost impossible to quantify the savings resulting from less wear and tear on the devices, fewer troubleshooting measures or even prevented production downtimes. Studies show that contaminated energy networks cause billions in damage every year. multiwave active is therefore an investment in your own operational safety.

The right product for every requirement

Even the smallest version of multiwave active guarantees reliable compensation of harmonics up to the 50th harmonic and reactive power. Small dimensions and low weight allow simple and space-saving installation in any environment: both wall and switch cabinet mounting up to protection class IP54 are possible. With a power loss of just < 970 W, this version is extremely economical. The reaction time of << 1ms, it is also possible to optimally compensate for dynamic loads.

The advantages

As an active harmonic filter of the latest generation, it offers many advantages over conventional technology. multiwave active is powerful, compact, fully digital, responds in less than 1 ms and reliably compensates for harmonics and reactive power. The LCD display, which is always installed, provides the user with a constant overview of the filter’s function.

Compact models for every requirement
Active resonance damping, dynamic power factor correction ind/kap (phase-selective), load balancing, flicker compensation / symmetrical voltage stabilization, neutral conductor relief. With its extensive range of models, multiwave Active is suitable for a wide variety of applications. The device versions range from 60 to 300 amps and 380 to 480 volts – in 3- or 4-wire technology.

Fast compensation almost in real time
The faster an active harmonic filter reacts to disturbances in the network, the more precisely it compensates for them. As multiwave Active is fully digital, a response time of less than 1 ms is possible.

Low power loss
Thanks to the use of 3-level IGBTs with reduced losses, the active filters work very efficiently.

High performance in the smallest of spaces
Compared to other active filters, multiwave Active requires very little space. The 60 amp version of the appliance has external dimensions of just 44 x 42 x 22 cm and weighs only 44 kg. This makes wall mounting possible without any problems.

The areas of application

There is a wide range of companies and facilities that can clearly optimize their network quality with multiwave active. This means that the active harmonic filter can be used efficiently in building technology as well as in plant and automation technology, for example. It makes sense to include the device in the planning and implementation of new systems. Of course, multiwave active can also be intelligently integrated into existing systems and installations where power quality problems occur.

The ease of use

Click-and-start configuration
The flexibility of multiwave active is demonstrated by the fact that it can be coupled to the energy grid on the load or grid side via a variety of current transformers or voltage-controlled. Configured with just a few clicks on the LCD display, the current mains current is permanently measured and any harmonics and phase shifts that occur are actively compensated for. Within microseconds, the multiwave active calculates the corresponding compensation currents, provides them and feeds them into the grid. Fully digitized control and regulation as well as fast and high computer performance make it possible

Multilingual menu and control via software
The multilingual, menu-driven control panel and display make commissioning, selecting and setting individual parameters very user-friendly for all multiwave active appliance types. With the help of the software, installation and maintenance can also be carried out conveniently via PC. In remote operation via Ethernet and TCP/IP interface, the current status of the power quality can optionally be called up online so that adjustments can be made.
